Lonely Planet: "Amsterdam is touted as the gay and lesbian capital of Europe, with a myriad of gay services. Amsterdam also hosts the massive Koninginnedag (Queen’s Day) event, dedicated to those who were persecuted by the Nazis for their sexual preferences. "
